About Nothing Underneath
Nothing Underneath is a dark floral woody oriental eau de parfum for women, inspired by Black Orchid by Tom Ford. It is the most dramatic fragrance we make and the least suited to half-measures.
The opening is rich and slightly strange. Blackcurrant brings a dark fruity tartness, lemon, bergamot and mandarin add a bright citrus edge, and jasmine and gardenia bloom immediately underneath, heady and almost narcotic. It smells luxurious from the very first second.
The heart is where it turns properly unusual. Orchid gives an exotic, slightly fleshy floral quality, lotus adds a cool watery contrast, and a wash of spicy and fruity notes threads through, creating something that feels dense and layered and a little decadent.
The base is extraordinary. Patchouli and vetiver provide dark earth, sandalwood gives cream, incense lends a dry, smoky solemnity, and chocolate, amber and vanilla build a warm, edible richness underneath everything. It is a base you can almost taste, and it lingers for a very long time.
Wear it at night, in cold weather, to dinners, parties and occasions that deserve a little theatre. Two sprays are enough for most people. It is not a fragrance for the office, and it is not a safe gift unless you know the person loves bold scents. For those who do, it is unforgettable. Give it thirty minutes on skin before you decide, because the opening is only a fraction of what this one has to say.

If you love Black Orchid by Tom Ford, Nothing Underneath shares its DNA in the dark fruity-floral opening, the unusual orchid heart and the rich patchouli, chocolate and vanilla base that gives the original its famously decadent character.
Ours is slightly cleaner. The earthiest, most truffle-like quality of the original is softened here, which makes our version a little easier to wear in company, and our incense is more noticeable through the dry-down. Both are extremely long-lasting, often more than eight hours, and both project strongly for the first two. Nothing Underneath is an original composition inspired by that fragrance rather than a reproduction of it, and the cleaner, smokier middle is where ours goes its own way.

When to wear it
Cold nights and occasions with some drama to them. Autumn and winter evenings, dinners, parties and celebrations suit it; daytime and warm weather do not. Two sprays on skin, applied low so the richness rises slowly rather than arriving all at once. Start with the 30ml at R70, because a fragrance this bold is best tested before committing to a large bottle.

Certainly. The incense, patchouli and dark chocolate base reads beautifully on anyone. It is one of the most genuinely unisex fragrances in the range.
How strong is it?
Very. Two sprays will last the night and carry across a room. If you are new to fragrances of this weight, begin with one and add later if you want more.
