About Off Limits
Off Limits is a honeyed chypre eau de parfum for women, inspired by Scandal by Jean Paul Gaultier. It is sweet in a way that very few fragrances manage: sticky, golden and completely unapologetic.
Blood orange opens it with a deep, slightly bitter citrus juiciness, and grapefruit sharpens the edges so the first few minutes have a tart brightness. It smells like peeling fruit with your hands, which is a good deal more interesting than a simple orange note.
Then honey arrives, and honey is the entire personality of this fragrance. It is thick, warm and faintly animalic, with a golden sweetness that can feel almost too much for the first minute and then becomes utterly addictive. Gardenia sits beside it, creamy and white, taking a little of the weight off.
Patchouli holds the base alone, and it has to. Dark, earthy and slightly bitter, it is the only thing keeping all that honey from floating away, and the contrast between the two is what gives the fragrance its shape and its staying power.
Wear it on cool evenings, to dinners, parties and nights out. Two sprays, because honey expands as it warms. It suits confident wearers who enjoy being noticed, and it is one of the few genuinely memorable sweet fragrances we sell. Apply it to bare skin rather than clothing, since honey clings to fabric for weeks and you may want the option of changing your mind.
If you love Scandal
If you love Scandal by Jean Paul Gaultier, Off Limits shares its DNA in the citrus opening, the enormous honey heart and the dark patchouli base that gives the original its odd and wonderful balance of sweetness and earth.
Ours is a little fruitier at the start. The blood orange is deeper and more bitter than the original's brighter citrus, and our honey is marginally less animalic, which makes the middle hours slightly easier to wear. The patchouli in our base is comparable in strength. Both last well, around seven to eight hours, with good projection early on. Off Limits is inspired by that fragrance and has a similar character, but it is an original composition rather than a reproduction of it.

When to wear it
Cool evenings in autumn and winter suit it best, when the honey feels rich rather than heavy. It is a going-out fragrance, well matched to dinners, parties and dates, and a little much for a warm office afternoon. Two sprays, applied to the throat and wrists and left to settle. The 30ml at R70 is the wise starting point for a scent this distinctive.
Questions people ask
Does Off Limits smell like Scandal?
It shares the same honey and patchouli character that makes Scandal by Jean Paul Gaultier so distinctive. Ours is an original composition inspired by that fragrance rather than a reproduction, with a deeper blood orange opening.
Is the honey note overwhelming?
It is prominent, which is the point. The patchouli underneath keeps it grounded, and after the first twenty minutes the sweetness settles into something much more wearable.
How many sprays should I use?
Two. Honey notes expand considerably as they warm on the skin, so what feels modest when you apply it will be noticeably bigger half an hour later.
What kind of skin suits it best?
Cooler, drier skin keeps the honey in check and lets the patchouli show. On very warm skin it becomes sweeter and richer, so one spray may be enough.
