About Morning Sun
Morning Sun is a modern chypre eau de parfum for women, inspired by Jimmy Choo by Jimmy Choo. It is sweeter than a traditional chypre and darker than a typical sweet fragrance, and it lives happily in that gap.
Green notes open it with a crisp, leafy freshness, almost like crushed stems, and they do their work quickly. There is no fruit and no citrus sparkle here, just a clean green lift that clears the way.
Tiger orchid carries the entire heart. It is a rich, slightly exotic floral with a faintly spiced edge, neither powdery nor watery, and it gives the fragrance a glamorous, evening-dress quality even when you are wearing jeans.
The base is the reason people fall for it. Toffee brings a buttery, caramelised sweetness, and Indonesian patchouli sits beneath it, dark and earthy and a little bitter, cutting through the sugar so the finish is warm rather than sticky. The combination smells expensive and slightly dangerous, and it holds on the skin for hours.
Wear it from late afternoon onwards, in autumn and spring, to dinners, dates and evenings out, though it is discreet enough for a cool workday if you apply it lightly. If you love Jimmy Choo, Morning Sun shares its DNA in the green opening, the exotic orchid heart and the toffee and patchouli base that gives the original its unusual balance of sweetness and earth.
Ours is a touch greener at the start and a shade less buttery in the finish. The patchouli comes forward slightly sooner in our version, making the dry-down drier and more chypre-like, where the original leans a little longer on the toffee. Longevity is good at around seven hours with moderate projection that settles after the first two. Morning Sun is inspired by that fragrance and has a similar character, but it is an original composition rather than a reproduction of it.

When to wear it
Spring and autumn, from late afternoon into the evening. It suits dinners, dates and social evenings, and it is discreet enough for a cool weekday if you keep it to two sprays. Apply three sprays at the throat and wrists on skin that has been moisturised, which helps the patchouli hold. The 50ml at R120 is the sensible size for regular evening wear.

What does chypre mean?
It describes a structure built on a fresh opening and a mossy, earthy base, usually with patchouli. It reads as sophisticated and slightly serious compared with fruity fragrances.
Is the toffee note very sweet?
