About Bangkok Baby

Bangkok Baby is a smoky, spicy woody oriental eau de parfum for men, inspired by Wanted by Azzaro. It opens on a squeeze of lemon and a raw hit of fresh ginger, the kind of brightness that clears its throat and makes a room look up.

Cardamom follows, green and faintly sweet, and then the cade oil arrives. Cade is tarry, birch-smoked and a little dangerous, and it is the note that gives this fragrance its swagger. Think of a night market with the grill going, neon in the puddles and the air thick with charcoal and citrus peel.

Underneath, vetiver runs dry and rooty while tonka bean melts into something warm and almost edible. The contrast is the whole point: the top is cold and sharp, the base is smouldering, and the hours in between are where the character lives. On skin it settles close and smoky rather than sugary, which is what keeps it from feeling boyish.

This is a fragrance for confidence rather than politeness. Reach for it when the evening has a plan of its own, when you are meeting people who matter, when the weather has turned and a warm scent trail earns its place. Two sprays are plenty at a dinner table. Four is a Friday night. It suits men who like their fragrance with a bit of grit under the polish, and it rewards anyone who wants to be remembered without saying much.

If you love Wanted

If you love Wanted by Azzaro, Bangkok Baby will feel like familiar territory. It shares its DNA: the same ginger-forward opening, the same smoky-sweet spine built on tonka and dry woods, and the same confident, night-leaning attitude that made the original a favourite.

Where they differ is in the detail and the balance. Our version leans harder into the cade smoke, so the middle hours read a touch darker and drier than the original, with less of the polished amber sweetness and more raw charcoal edge. The citrus opening is brighter but shorter, settling into the woods sooner. Longevity is strong on most skin, though projection sits slightly closer to the body after the first hour. It is an original composition inspired by that classic character, not a reproduction of it, and the differences are what make it worth wearing on its own terms.

When to wear it

Bangkok Baby belongs to autumn and winter evenings, when cool air holds smoke and spice close to the skin. Save it for dinners, dates and late nights rather than the morning commute. Two sprays to the chest and one to the back of the neck is the sweet spot. Start with the 30ml at R70 to live with it for a season, then move to the 100ml at R200 once it becomes a signature.

Questions people ask

Does Bangkok Baby smell like Wanted?

It shares the same ginger-and-smoke character and the warm tonka finish that people recognise in Wanted by Azzaro. It is an original composition inspired by that fragrance, not a reproduction of it, and our cade smoke runs a little darker.

How long does Bangkok Baby last on skin?

Expect roughly six to eight hours on most skin, longer on clothing. The tonka and vetiver base is what carries it through the evening, so the last few hours are softer and warmer than the opening.

Which size should I buy first?

The 30ml at R70 is the easiest way to test a smoky fragrance on your own skin. If you already know you love this style, the 100ml at R200 works out far better per millilitre.

Is Bangkok Baby too strong for the office?

It can be, if you are heavy-handed. One spray worn close to the skin is fine in an open-plan space, but the smoke and spice really come alive in the evening, so most people keep it for after hours.
