About That’s What He Said
That’s What He Said is a crisp fruity-floral eau de parfum for women, inspired by Light Blue by Dolce & Gabbana. It is the fragrance we sell most of every December, for obvious reasons.
Granny Smith apple leads, and it is unmistakable: tart, green and cold, the smell of biting into fruit straight from the fridge. Sicilian cedar adds a citrus sharpness and bluebells bring a delicate, watery floral coolness that keeps the opening from being purely fruity.
The heart stays light and clean. Jasmine gives a soft white floral depth, white rose is fresh rather than rich, and bamboo adds a green, stemmy freshness that reads almost like cut grass after rain. Nothing here weighs anything.
The base is gentle but present. Cedarwood gives a dry, pale woodiness, amber adds a faint warmth, and musk smooths the finish into clean skin. It is the reason the fragrance lasts longer than most citrus scents, and the reason it works on cooler evenings as well as hot mornings.
Wear it in spring and summer, in daylight above all, at the coast, at the pool, at work with the air conditioning on, on long hot Saturdays. Four sprays, since it is light and fades gently in heat. It is an easy favourite, a good first perfume and a reliable gift for almost anyone.
If you love Light Blue
If you love Light Blue by Dolce & Gabbana, That’s What He Said belongs to the same family. Both open on tart green apple and citrus, both keep a cool, watery floral heart, and both finish on soft cedarwood and musk that reads as clean skin in the sun.
Ours is slightly more floral. The jasmine and white rose are more noticeable through our heart, where the original stays sharper and more fruit-led, and our amber gives the base a touch more warmth. Both are moderate performers, lasting about five to six hours in heat, and both are best treated as daytime fragrances. That’s What He Said is inspired by that fragrance and has a similar character, but it is an original composition rather than a reproduction of it.

When to wear it
Summer daylight is exactly where it belongs, with spring a close second. Wear it to the coast, the pool, work, markets and long hot weekends. Four sprays, because it sits lightly and burns off faster in the sun. Keep a 30ml at R70 in your bag for the afternoon and a 100ml at R200 at home for the whole season.

It shares the same crisp green apple and clean woody-musk character that made Light Blue by Dolce & Gabbana a summer staple. Ours is an original composition inspired by that fragrance rather than a reproduction, and it is more floral.
How long does it last in the heat?
Five to six hours, less in direct sun. Fresh fragrances are lighter by nature, so an afternoon reapplication keeps it going through a full summer day.
Is it suitable for a first perfume?
