About Pure Duchess
Pure Duchess is a dark gourmand floral eau de parfum for women, inspired by Good Girl by Carolina Herrera. It is built on a simple idea done extremely well: white flowers over something rich and slightly bitter.
Jasmine and tuberose open it, and they open loudly. Both are heady, creamy white florals, and together they create an opening that is lush, slightly narcotic and unmistakably feminine. There is no citrus to soften the arrival; it simply begins in full bloom.
Velvet almond carries the heart alone, and the name is apt. It is smooth, faintly marzipan-like and softly sweet, acting as a bridge between the flowers above and the darkness below, and it gives the middle hours a plush, powdery texture.
The base is where it becomes seductive. Tonka bean brings warm vanilla sweetness, cocoa adds a dry, dusty bitterness that is nothing like chocolate confectionery, and coffee deepens it further with a roasted edge. The finish is warm, dark and creamy, and it lasts a very long time.
Wear it at night, in cool weather, to dinners, celebrations and occasions where you want a little glamour. Two or three sprays. It suits wearers who enjoy sweet fragrances but want something with shadow in it, and it is particularly beautiful on skin that runs cool. Let it settle for twenty minutes before adding more, as the almond and cocoa expand considerably once they warm up.

If you love Good Girl by Carolina Herrera, Pure Duchess shares its DNA in the heady jasmine and tuberose opening, the almond-led heart and the cocoa, coffee and tonka base that gives the original its dark, glamorous finish.
Ours is a shade drier. The cocoa reads more dusty than sweet in our version, which keeps the dry-down from becoming dessert-like, and our tuberose is slightly more prominent in the opening. The original is creamier overall; ours has a sharper edge. Both perform strongly, lasting eight hours or so with good projection early. Pure Duchess is inspired by that fragrance and has a similar character, but it is an original composition rather than a reproduction of it.

When to wear it
Autumn and winter nights suit it best, when cool air carries the cocoa and tonka without making them heavy. It belongs at dinners, parties and celebrations rather than in daylight or an office. Two or three sprays at the throat and wrists, applied before you dress. The 50ml at R120 is the right size for a fragrance saved for good evenings.

It shares the same tuberose, almond and cocoa character that makes Good Girl by Carolina Herrera so recognisable. Ours is an original composition inspired by that fragrance rather than a reproduction, and it finishes a little drier.
Is the cocoa note sweet?
It is dry and dusty rather than sugary, closer to unsweetened cocoa powder than to a chocolate bar. That bitterness is what keeps the fragrance sophisticated.
How does it compare with our coffee-led fragrances?
It is creamier and more floral. Where our coffee-forward scents lead with roasted bitterness, this one leads with white flowers and keeps the darkness in the base.
Which skin does it sit best on?
Cooler skin keeps the tuberose crisp and lets the cocoa stay dry. On warmer skin it becomes sweeter and richer, so two sprays will do the work of three.
