About After Dark
After Dark is a rich vanilla-and-almond eau de parfum for women, inspired by Hypnotic Poison by Dior. It is our most seductive fragrance and the one customers describe as addictive more often than any other.
It opens with something unusual: caraway, warm and faintly aniseed, followed immediately by bitter almond. That almond is the signature of the whole composition, marzipan-sweet with a sharp edge underneath, and it announces straight away that this is not going to be a polite floral.
Jasmine sambac blooms through the heart, heady and slightly narcotic, while moss adds a green, earthy shadow that keeps the sweetness from floating away. The two together create a strange, beautiful tension: creamy and dark at the same time, like velvet in a dim room.
The dry-down is the reason people repurchase. Jacaranda wood is smooth and faintly resinous, vanilla turns everything warm and edible, and musk presses the whole thing against the skin so it lingers for hours. It smells intimate rather than showy, which is a difficult thing for a fragrance this sweet to achieve.
Wear it at night, in cool weather, to dinners and dates and anywhere you want to be remembered by scent alone. Two sprays on the pulse points. It grows considerably in the first thirty minutes, so apply and wait rather than applying and adding.

If you love Hypnotic Poison by Dior, After Dark shares its DNA in the bitter almond opening, the narcotic jasmine heart and the creamy vanilla and wood base that gives the original its unmistakable, hypnotic quality.
Ours is slightly less spicy in the first hour. The caraway is softer and the almond arrives sooner, giving a sweeter, more immediate opening, while the original takes longer to unfold. Our moss note adds a greener shadow through the middle that the original does not emphasise. Both are exceptionally long-lasting, often eight hours or more, and both wear close to the skin after the first hour. After Dark is inspired by that fragrance and belongs to the same family, but it is our own composition rather than a reproduction of it.

When to wear it
Cool evenings suit it best, particularly autumn and winter, when the vanilla and almond feel comforting rather than heavy. Save it for dinners, dates and nights out. Two sprays on the wrists and one at the base of the throat is plenty, since it expands as it warms. The 30ml at R70 is a wise first purchase for a fragrance with this much presence.

It shares the same bitter almond and vanilla character that makes Hypnotic Poison by Dior so distinctive. Ours is an original composition inspired by that fragrance, not a reproduction, and it is a little sweeter up front.
Is it too heavy for daytime?
For most days, yes. It is rich and sweet by design. If you want to wear it in daylight, one spray on the wrist in winter is about right.
How long does it last?
Eight hours or more on skin, and noticeably longer on scarves and coats. The vanilla and musk base is what keeps it going through a long evening.
Would this make a good gift?
It makes a good gift, especially for someone who loves warm, sweet fragrances. The 50ml at R120 is a generous size without overcommitting to a scent this distinctive.
