About Cover Me In Roses
Cover Me In Roses is a lavish floral eau de parfum for women, inspired by Red Door by Elizabeth Arden. It is unashamedly a perfume in the grand tradition, and there is nothing minimal about it.
The opening is plush with fruit and blossom. Orange blossom leads, sweet and slightly indolic, with plum and peach giving it a ripe, velvety texture and anise adding a sharp spice that stops the whole thing from becoming jam.
Then the bouquet arrives, and it is enormous. Rose is at the centre, full and dewy, surrounded by jasmine, muguet, ylang-ylang and orris, with honey running through the middle like syrup poured over petals. This is the heart of a classic feminine perfume: layered, generous and instantly recognisable as something a woman chose rather than something she was given.
The base gives it staying power. Heliotrope adds an almond-powder softness, sandalwood and cedar bring warmth, and amber and benzoin create a resinous glow that lasts for hours and clings beautifully to fabric.
Wear it in the late afternoon and evening, from autumn through spring. It suits weddings, birthdays, anniversaries and church, and it is often chosen by women buying for their mothers. Two sprays are plenty: this is a fragrance with reach, and it earns its compliments from a distance rather than up close. Ours is a shade sweeter through the middle, thanks to a more generous honey note, and slightly less sharp in the opening because our anise is restrained. The original projects a little more aggressively in the first thirty minutes; ours blooms more gradually. Longevity is excellent on both, easily eight hours, and both linger on clothing. Cover Me In Roses is inspired by that classic and belongs to the same family, but it is our own composition rather than a reproduction of it.

When to wear it
Late afternoons and evenings, from autumn through spring, when cooler air carries a big floral gracefully. It is made for occasions: weddings, celebrations, formal lunches and family gatherings. Two sprays only, one at the throat and one on the wrist, because it projects generously. The 50ml at R120 lasts a long time at this application rate.
