About Sweetly Bitter
Sweetly Bitter is a radiant fruity-floral eau de parfum for women, inspired by Gabrielle by Chanel. It manages to be bright and sophisticated at once, which is a harder trick than it sounds.
The opening is a burst of citrus with an edge. Mandarin is sweet and round, grapefruit is tart and slightly bitter, and blackcurrant adds a dark berry tang underneath. The name comes from this tension: it is never simply sweet, and never simply sharp.
The heart is a bouquet of white flowers, and it is where the fragrance becomes luminous. Tuberose leads with creamy richness, ylang-ylang adds a tropical warmth, jasmine gives depth, and orange blossom lifts everything with a honeyed brightness. It is a lot of flower, handled with restraint.
The base keeps it elegant. Sandalwood provides a smooth, creamy structure and musk gives a clean, soft warmth that holds the flowers against the skin. There is no vanilla and no sugar in the finish, which is why it reads as refined rather than youthful.

Ours brings the fruit further forward. The blackcurrant is more noticeable in our opening, adding a darker tang where the original is cleaner and more purely citrus, and our tuberose is slightly creamier. The finish is comparable, though ours is a shade warmer. Both last around seven hours with moderate projection that settles after the first two. Sweetly Bitter is inspired by that fragrance and has a similar character, but it is an original composition rather than a reproduction of it.
